President Hinckley

I have read a lot of my friends posts about the passing of our Prophet. I normally try not to copy others but I decided to write my own tribute anyway.

President Hinckley passed away last night. He became the prophet of the church when I was 11 and I remember being intrigued by his calling. At the time I had no idea what an impact that man would have on my life. His council has guided me through my teen years, college years and early years of married life. I have had the privilege of being in the same room as him on a couple of occasions and although I have never really met him- I know him. I know of his goodness, his optimism and his spirit. I know that when he enters a room the spirit comes with him. What he said when he spoke were the words of a prophet of God.

I will forever remember his guidance to attend the temple, be a little better, love one another, the 6 B's, and so many other lessons. When I have heard him speak I do not doubt that he is God's Representative on this earth. That he was a man chosen to lead and guide us. I think we are so blessed to have a prophet here on earth. He is a guiding light in this chaotic world. I will miss hearing his council and seeing his smiling face- but I am happy too because I think of how much joy he has now that he is with his wife again. I will always remember and honor his memory and the impact he had on my life. I love our church I love that when something happens, when the world goes through crisis or when a prophet dies- we do not have to fear, the Lord will call another man to be our Prophet! His work goes on!

I found President Hinckleys testimony on a friends blog and thought I would put it on mine for us to read- What a great man!

27 January 2008 "I hope that all of you will remember that on this Sabbath day you heard me bear my witness that this is God's holy work. The vision given the Prophet Joseph in the grove of Palmyra was not an imaginary thing. It was real. It occurred in the broad light of day. Both the Father and the Son spoke to the boy. He saw Them standing in the air above him. He heard Their voices. He gave heed to Their instruction."It was the resurrected Lord who was introduced by His Father, the great God of the universe. For the first time in recorded history, both the Father and the Son appeared together to part the curtains and open this, the last and final dispensation, the dispensation of the fullness of times."The Book of Mormon is all that it purports to be—a work recorded by prophets who lived anciently and whose words have come forth "to the convincing of the Jew and Gentile that Jesus is the Christ, the Eternal God, manifesting himself unto all nations" (Book of Mormon title page)."The priesthood has been restored under the hands of John the Baptist and Peter, James, and John. All the keys and authority pertaining to eternal life are exercised in this Church."Joseph Smith was and is a prophet, the great Prophet of this dispensation. This Church, which carries the name of the Redeemer, is true."I leave you my testimony, my witness, and my love for each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ, amen."President Gordon B. Hinckley

Every parent loves to hear their child bare their testimony. That was such a beautiful entry - I really enjoyed reading it.
