For the 12 days prior to Christmas the kids wake up each morning to find an envelope. It contains a Christmas story, poem or quote and an activity. The kids love finding out what we are going to do and I like that the hectic weeks before Christmas are organized.
With 12 days to go we did Christmas crafts. We decorated snowmen, made paper snowflakes and colored nativity pictures.
With 11 days to go we did my favorite day- Christmas Charity. Each year we do something slightly different. This year my parents gave us some information on a family that could use a little extra Christmas. The kids helped find the perfect gifts, some of the things were new things and some of the items were things they love that they thought the family would love. Watching my children willingly and excitedly give is priceless. We have done this for the last several years and never once have I had to convince them to give, never once have I heard them remorseful for giving and always I hear them talk about this special day with fondness.
With 10 days to go we drove around and looked at lights them came home to cups of hot chocolate!
With 9 days to go the kids watched LOTS of Christmas movies.
