More Randomness...

Last Thursday Kyle came over and wanted me to help him make a car cake.  It was lots of fun helping him and hanging out.  He was suppose to do it on his own.  I must say it is very hard to sit back and watch someone else do something and not be able to step in.  I know it was good practice since I will have kids in school soon and they will need to do their own projects.  I love having nieces and nephews next door.  They are all such fun good kids!

The kids get bored sometimes, especially in the winter when we are trapped inside with no car.  So we had a tea party one day.  They loved it.  I told them to be polite and not take to much of the food but to share.  The boys nicely passed the food and took a little and then it got to Adele and she just kept piling the food on.  We still need to work on her lady like skills.
Her manners are a little lacking but her style is right on the mark.  I think stickers are going to be the next big thing in accessory trends.
The boys love making secret things to give to people.  Since Tyler is gone all day a lot of their surprises default to him.  Garret loves to write "I luv Dad" all over it.  He always spells it that way even though I have corrected him.  I think its cute though.  I love when he sounds out words on his own.  It always has this cute childish quality.  They are sweet kids.
Spencer is not only an artist, he is also SO funny.  He is really in a fun stage.  He is a deep thinker but some of the things he comes up with are hard to listen to without laughing.  He has all kinds of ideas about how the baby got in my tummy, he talks to it and tells me what the baby has to say, he thinks of funny names for the baby, he loves to repeat what Garret says or change it just a little to make it his own, he names all of his toys and uses a deep voice when he is talking for them, and he says "I love you" all the time!
Saturday night we watched Life is Beautiful again.  I hadn't seen it in a long time.  Not since becoming a parent.  I loved it before but watching it as a parent gave it a whole new meaning.  How can some people be so cruel and awful and others so so so good.  I hope I can be a parent like him, so cheerful and loving (although I hope with all my heart I never have to endure what they did).  I confess I shed a few tears!

I am constantly reminded what a great husband I have.  Lately all I have to do is mention a certain food and Tyler is either making it for me or getting it for me.  Today he made me French Onion Soup.  It was so good.  He did the bread and cheese just like the restaurant. He cut so many onions and he shed so many tears (from the onions) all for me.  Not only that but he deep cleans our bathrooms weekly, which is a pretty big job with the two boys running around.  He is such a good man!

Sometimes this girl is just so messy and there isn't time for a full on bath.  She has a special knack for getting food everywhere!
All these little random things thrown together sure make life great!

The Worm Cake

The kids wanted to try their hand at cake decorating. They had plans to make a castle- I thought they might be disapointed in the outcome but they thought their "worm" cake was AWESOME.

A Weekend Away

We went to visit my parents this weekend.  We had some dental things we needed to do over that way so we made a weekend out of it.  I was awful at taking pictures.  I only took pictures one day when we went up to Port Townsend.  We played at Fort Warden with Dan and Heather and Ridge.  It was really fun.  The kids loved the old bunkers.  The pictures don't do them justice but they are huge and full of tunnels and secret entrances.  It is all right near the water so they also go to throw some sticks in the water (one of their favorite things).  We had planned to spend a night up there but we didn't get our hotel ahead of time so there was no vacancy.  We still had a great time.  The rest of the weekend we spent with my parents.  Adele was in a super goofy mood one night.  I wish I had taken a video or at least some pictures.  She was talking up a storm, laughing at everything, doing all her funny tricks.  It was lots of fun.

It was a lovely weekend.  Hopefully we can go back soon.

I must have blinked....

video
How did Garret get so big?  Seriously I could watch this over and over.  I have been feeling a little nostalgic lately.  All of my babies are getting so big.  I started putting other videos on of the kids but it kept saying error.  They are all so cute!  I love them all so much.  I can't believe I am going to have another baby soon - I  hate that I already know it will grow up super fast too.

* If you are wondering why I kept asking him to do his bum wiggle, well he had a phase where he thought he was SO funny when he would shake his bum around. This video is from when he was 22 months old.  He is going to be 6 before I know it!

My Valentines!

Here are my Valentines (they are in no particular order)!

Little Miss Adele- She really liked the chocolate cupcakes we had after dinner tonight.  She is a delightfully fun and energetic little girl.  What a sweet Valentine she is!
My Love- Tyler is my Number 1 Valentine.  He is goofy, kind, thoughtful, a great Dad, a wonderful husband and my best friend.
Spency-  He is so sneaky (he is showing me what he did during our secret cupid game- no wonder I never saw him!).  He is a fun, snugly little valentine!
Garret-boy- his strategy was to just disappear (at least that is what he looks like he is doing in this picture).  He is such a sweetheart and was so thoughtful during this whole last week.
I love my Valentines.  We had a great few days leading up to Valentines and today we had a special breakfast and dinner, treats and for an activity made valentines crafts for each other.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

The Secrets are Out

This morning we ate our traditional- heart shaped biscuits with pink gravy for breakfast.  While we ate we revealed who we played secret cupid for.

Surprise, surprise- Spencer had me (he is the book throwing culprit), I was shocked!  He giggled as he told me about sneaking around.

Garret proudly told Tyler he had him.  He enjoyed telling him how hard he planned his secret escapades (he was very creative- props to him).

Adele had Spencer.  Spencer didn't believe this at first so I had to fill in and tell him I helped her some (You were right Spence there is no way Adele could have put slippers on your feet while you slept---classic).

Tyler had Adele-  She wasn't too shocked- she is pretty smart, acted like she knew all along.  Who else but Dad would give her her own chap stick (which she ate in a matter of minutes....when she could no longer get it with her tongue she improvised and used a toy bottle to dig deeper- I think she might be a genius! Chap stick is non toxic right?)

I had Garret- He was very gracious and thanked me for all my secret cupid surprises.

Tonight the festivities go on, but this morning we wrapped up the Secret Cupid game.  I think it will definitely be a tradition....I have to do it again because I was so awful at taking pictures of it this year.

Explorin

When I ask the kids what they want to do often I hear "we want to go explorin".  We have explored the house and backyard pretty thoroughly.  So this morning when they said they wanted to go explorin we set out to the best place I could think of within walking distance- "the old deserted park" (that is what they have titled it).  Last time I took them to a parking lot- this was better!  Garret brought his magnifying glass and bird book.  Spencer kept saying "I found a habitat".  Then Garret would come look and say "Wow Spencer you should be a discoverer when you grow up".  Garret found a stick and spent a while looking at it in his magnifying glass saying "yep they are bite marks, either bear or dog. Probably dog, playing fetch".  Adele I am proud to say did not eat any rocks and thought she was the most independent thing ever.  She loves to be right in the action.  Between the rusty playground and couple of trees they had a great time explorin.  And Garret went on the monkey bars for the first time.  He usually climbs up, hangs on them and comes down.  This time he went a few bars and its going to do more next time.  Spencer says he will when he is four!

Gotta love the tongue!

***  On a different note, my secret cupid threw a book at me in the bathroom this morning. And Tyler's secret cupid decorated the car with hearts last night.  Lots of fun going on around here!

Secret Cupid

A friend in Buffalo told us about a family tradition they have and this year we decided to give it a try.  Last night for FHE we had great lesson on LOVE then we all got an envelope.  Inside was someones name and 10 love bucks.  They were so excited to go shopping at my store for their special person- seriously they were SO excited.  They each have a little bag of things to secretly give their person.  They also have lots of ideas of other nice things to do for their "secret" person.

This morning Garret came bursting into our room so excited because there was something left for him.  (this was rather early- so he went back to bed).  Then he came in again to ask Tyler when he was going to take a shower because he wanted to make his bed for him (we are still working on the secret part).  He has been making all kinds of plans for other secret things he is going to do. Then as soon as Tyler got in bed he told me to get out of bed so he could make it.  hmmmm....I wonder who has Tyler?!!!

Spencer asked me to remind him what he was suppose to do with the "stuff" he bought.  I explained it again and then he said "can I do it right now?".  I told him to try and wait til his person wasn't looking.  About 1 minute later he stood in the other room and chucked a gift my way, then ran off giggling, came back and said "wow Mom where did you get that from?"  Then later he was drawing and kept crawling around and setting pictures next to me.  hmmmm....I wonder who has me?!!!

The funny thing is they aren't very good at the process of elimination so they have no clue who has them or who the other person has.  They are totally loving the Secret Cupid game- I think it could become an annual tradition!  (I'll post more on it later with pictures as well).
